Birthday Blast

The birthday girls had a ball on Wednesday.....their first birthday was Monday the 11th but we had the party a couple days late...like they would notice!!  Ojai and Judy and Alexandra came out that afternoon and the girls did their normal running around the back yard until they collapsed routine. I filled the puppy pool with a some water and they managed to get in and out of there...Ojai likes it better than Oreily. But they did manage to knock over the big container of drinking water on the porch....labs!!  We had a good time and the best part was giving them Judy's home-made frosty paws treat....made with yogurt, peanut butter, bananas and honey. Frozen in plastic cups and then microwaved just a bit to soften it. Even Levi got a cup of it....they were totally into that food....no noise other than the slurping of tongues for quite a few minutes. Oh my was that fun. We drew the line at funny hats and kazoos but we did sing Happy Birthday to them....Hard to believe that it's a year since they were born and that it's nearly that long since we've had them. They are gorgeous and we still have trouble telling them apart if they aren't looking us right in the face. check out the party pictures at this link:
 First Birthday

I made Ojai a new collar for her birthday...purple with her name embroidered on it along with some little flowers and then put shiny crystals on it too. A new leash, too, with crystals all down the length of it. First time I've made a dog collar but it was fun, once I found a decent supplier of webbing and ribbon and the necessary "hardware". The purple looks stunning on Ojai's black fur. Guess I should make one for Reily, too. So simple other than trying to get the embroidery into the right place....

Reily went to church with me again last Sunday. We stayed in the narthex (entry) until services started and she helped greet everyone who came in. I was very pleased because she sat and stayed sitting the whole time. Well, when Judy came thru the door, Reily got up and greeted her!!  But otherwise she was perfect. We even got a seat by a window in the back so we got a breeze on us. As usual, Reily slept thru the sermon.....Randy's voice just calms her down and she sleeps like a baby. Sometime I'll sit closer to the front and see if she does that. !!  During the passing of the peace we walked around to greet people and she came along with me, got blessings given to her too! She was amazing. Best part? at the fellowship time after the service they were serving chocolate birthday cake and she totally ignored it...even when a piece came by in someone's hand that was about level with her mouth. Never blinked an eye or reached for it. She's pretty good at that at home too.

So it's been a fun week. We've gotten some rain the last couple of days and it's been cooling off nicely at night so much better for sleeping for her.

Nice to have both girls back home after their stays in the convent! From all reports they had a ball and are welcome to come back anytime.
